Q&A: Unplugged with Marcel Katz - The Power Behind Art Plug Power House 2019
Miami, FL – December 2, 2019 – He’s the plug that connects Miami’s social art scene: meet Marcel Katz a.k.a The Art Plug. Marcel Katz is known as the famed art dealer and collector; Katz founded The Art Plug Agency, a Miami-based creative art agency which is a conglomerate between Marcel Katz Art, an art dealership and pop-up gallery and The Art Plug Power House, which features interactive art installations and experiences. We met up with Marcel Katz and the decorated Freestyle Motocross athlete, Ronnie Renner, to discuss just what they have in store for The Art Plug Power House 2019.
Mechanical unicorns and motorcross: Art Week’s wildest event will be at The Citadel
The Art Plug Power House is back on the Miami Art Week scene for the second year. Last year’s totally lit shindig attracted about 3,000 people when it took over a police impound lot in Allapattah. Unusual highlights at this so-called adult playground included a mechanical bull unicorn, monster truck show and scent bubbles. Read that again.
This year the experiential art fair, which takes place at The Citadel Dec. 6-8, will also have a ridiculous number of things going on: performance art, installations, panel discussions, a charity auction, a gallery exposition, and yes, even a few stuntmen doing wheelies and other shenanigans.

Every year Miami Art Week finds a way to lure me in — a few weeks before the event I usually hem and haw over whether it’s worth the trip but the prospect of incredible art shows, parties and events always gets me. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s guaranteed to be warmer than New York City and that I have a chance to see creative friends from around the world who also attend.

This Art Basel party at a police impound lot sounds insane—in the best way
Timeout - Ryan Pfeffer
Traditionally, police impound lots have not been a place of joy and revelry. Quite the opposite, in fact. But this Art Basel, at least one in Miami will be a thousand percent less depressing than normal.
Enter the Art Plug Power House, an oh-so-Basel pop-up taking over a police impound lot in Allapattah and turning it into one seriously crazy “experiential adult playground.” It is a concept that sounds snatched from a Plantain headline, but we are very pleased to verify its authenticity.
